"In December, 1995, my wife and I decided to share our lives with a beautiful Samoyed puppy. We met little 10-week old Sammy and it was love at first sight! Sammy became our son and was one spoiled son! Six months later, we rescued Bear, a 2-year old male, abandoned, severely abused and malnourished Samoyed and embarked on a long journey to nurse him back to health and gain his trust. Sammy and Bear never had a cross word between them. Bear assumed the role of protector and Sammy assumed the role of pain-in-the-neck young sibling! Sammy and Bear enjoyed an idyllic life with us at our home for the next 6 years.

"In 2001 my wife gave birth to our daughter Amaya. Bear expanded his role of protector to include his new baby sister and Sammy tolerated an infant climbing all over him very well! For the next 3 years, Sammy, Bear, and Amaya grew together with us as a family and Amaya loved her brothers with all her heart!

"Then my wife gave birth to our son, Jason. We contracted for a new home and while it was being built, moved into a smaller apartment, where Jason developed allergies to Sammy and Bear. Asthma, eczema, medications several times daily with a nebulizer to clear his air passages, and the recommendation of Jason's pulmunologist forced us to make one of the most difficult decisions of our lives...to search for a suitable family to adopt our boys.

"While it tore our hearts apart to let our boys go, countless families flooded us with overwhelming immediate response and we finally settled on a great family with two young sons and a stay-at-home Mom who lived only a few miles from our house. Confident that our bond with our boys would never be broken we gave them up on 18 Feb 05. We stressed to the family that if they ever felt our boys were too difficult to take care of, that we would take them back, as we never wanted to see them end up in a shelter or separated. My wife's crying ceased after a few months but our daughter's questions as to where her brothers were and when they were coming home didn't. Amaya never let us talk about the family without including Sammy and Bear and mentioning that some day they would be coming home. We corresponded with Sammy and Bear's new family every week by phone or email.

"One day we noticed neither our emails nor telephone calls were being returned. My wife and I had nagging feelings and decided to drive by their home. Much to our shock, there was a "For Sale" sign on their house. Their neighbor told us the family had moved to North Carolina and she wasn't sure if they had taken Sammy and Bear with them. We were devastated. We began to step up our search for this family through the internet and known relatives but they wouldn't return our phone calls and left no forwarding address or phone number -- basically the family had disappeared from the face of the earth!

"Finally on the afternoon of 9 Jan 06, I asked my friends if anyone had any idea of how we could track these people down. Within a minute, a friend said, "Mike, I found Sammy and Bear on the internet, they're at a shelter in North Carolina." Within seconds, I was talking to the director of the Humane Society in Wilmington, North Carolina. I told her our story and told her I would be there the next day to get my boys.

"The next morning, leaving our children with family members, my wife and I began our 12-hour ride to bring Sammy and Bear home. We arrived at the Hanover Humane Society a little early, as we were eager to get our boys. We arrived with bags of treats and foods for the animals in the shelter and food and gifts for the workers. We were greeted by the staff with hugs, tears and words of praise. We were amazed at the outpouring of emotion and love from these truly incredible people. They asked if we could please wait a little longer as they had several people arriving to witness our reunion.

"Finally, amidst tears and smiles from over a dozen people, they let Sammy and Bear into the yard of the shelter. My wife and I made our way into the back and I whistled the same notes that I had used to call the boys with for 10 years. Sammy and Bear were over 100 feet away from us, sniffling around aimlessly, until I whistled. Their ears and heads immediately popped straight up, they turned to us and dashed towards us like two young greyhounds! They knocked my wife and me down, showering us with kisses, licks, and howls of joy. There wasn't a dry eye, and luckily we had the whole event videotaped. Our glorious reunion was only eclipsed by the joy in our hearts that we were bringing our boys home.

"The boys slept the whole way home, where, that night as we arrived, we were greeted by over two dozen of our family members who came to welcome the boys home. Amidst the crying, laughter, and screams of all in the house, the one voice that rose above the others was my daughter gleefully exclaiming, "My brothers are home, my brothers are home, now my family is complete!"

"Sammy and Bear slept for the next three days, resting peacefully in the comfort and knowledge that they were finally home again. Our son Jason, over a year old now, has adapted to the boys well, playing with them and making "panting" noises, and showing no signs of any further allergic reactions, thanks to God.

"We brought the boys to the vet the next week (who also were thrilled to welcome them back home). Both dogs lost 15 pounds. Sammy is still healthy, Bear has a few growths on his face and tumors in his stomach and very restrictive arthritis in his back. Even though he has not fared well and has a hard time standing, his spirit is still not diminished.

"We move into our new home next month and we look forward to sharing the remaining years of Sammy's and Bear's remarkable lives together as a unified family. When the day comes that God brings Sammy and Bear to heaven, monuments to the lives they touched will be located forever in our backyard and the joy they brought us will always remain in our hearts. Mike, Laurie, Amaya and Jason."

"My babies Tasha and Snuggles soon will be in my arms!" exclaimed the email subject line of an exultant Joyce Hernandez!

Deeply loved and both 16 years old when they crossed, Tasha and Snuggles had left form respectively in October of 2004 and January of 2005. Tasha was a little calico/tabby, grey-white with beige spots and tabby markings. Snuggles was a lovely yellow/white tabby. At the end of their physical lives, Tasha had IBS and Snuggles had a heart condition. Grieving profoundly, Joyce had contacted and consulted with Dr. Liz to see about their reincarnations and return to her.

"I want them both to come back in one body," Joyce declared.

When Dr. Liz connected with them, however, Tasha refused to share a body with Snuggles.

"Joyce, Tasha wants to come back in her own body."

Joyce was very reluctant to accept this. For months, Joyce, in her own words, "kept pestering Liz when are they coming back!" In the February 23rd Chat'N'Pray which includes more detail on this wonderful story (see link below to reach the Chat'N'Pray Transcripts), Dr. Liz shared that "pestering" was too mild a word. Joyce happily substituted "pestering" with "stalking!"

"It was easy for me to know when to contact Liz. Tasha had a nifty trick of getting a calico cat to visit my backyard so every time a calico cat came into the yard I would call Liz. Every time!"

Tasha said she would come back first "around Amma time," which both Joyce and Dr. Liz first thought would be April of 2005, the time when Amma Karunamayi (Joyce's guru) began her annual tour in the U.S. When that didn't happen and when Dr. Liz asked Tasha again, Tasha kept insisting she would come back "around Amma time." Dr. Liz then realized she must be meaning after Joyce and Dr. Liz and almost 200 others were to attend a 2-week silent meditation retreat with Karunamayi in India in October/November 2005.

Amma time came and then the Holidays. In early January, Tasha told Dr. Liz that she had picked out her body and to tell Joyce to find her! Joyce asked Dr. Liz to connect with her three cats still in form, Daisy, Princess, and Heidi. They all said they would be happy to have Tasha and Snuggles returned to them and they understood what it would mean to have young kittens around the house.

Joyce immediately went to the Internet. Joyce had questions, "What would she look like? How would she recognize Tasha?"

When Dr. Liz connected with Tasha, Tasha replied her face would be identical but her body markings would be different. She also said it was going to be easy for Joyce to find her and that she wanted Joyce to pick her up.

Joyce went to petfinder.com and found two kittens exactly as Tasha had described she would look. Joyce felt a connection to one of the kittens and contacted Dr. Liz to confirm her feeling. Dr. Liz did! And the kitten was in New Jersey, which is where Joyce's home is! Joyce was ecstatic! When Joyce contacted the woman who had the kitten, the woman asked Joyce if she had noticed there was another kitten in the picture ... which is very unusual on petfinder, Joyce noted, usually the animals are pictured singly. The woman said that Joyce would have to adopt the other kitten, too, that she wouldn't release just the one kitten, the kittens had to be kept together. At first, Joyce was beside herself, she didn't want another kitten unless it was Snuggles! She contacted Dr. Liz and Dr. Liz connected this time with Tasha's and Snuggles' essence energies as well as the two kittens pictured. Dr. Liz asked Snuggles if she would come into the other kitten's body. Snuggles said "Yes!"

Now almost delirious with Joy, Joyce told the lady she would gladly take both kittens!

Joyce was originally scheduled to pick up the kittens on Monday, February 13th, but there was a lot of snow and their happy reunion was postponed until the following day ... Tuesday, Valentine's Day, 2006!

"It was the best Valentine's Day present ever!" Joyce exclaimed.

Tasha, now bearing the spiritual name of Kwan Yin, and Snuggles, now bearing the spiritual name of Tara, are all together again with Joyce and their 3 sisters, Heidi, Princess, and Daisy!

"You know, the last time, both a calico cat and a yellow cat came into the yard," Joyce remembers. "And they kept coming back into the yard until I had contacted the lady about the kittens!"

"This is a beautiful example of Divine Love working through Tasha and Snuggles, orchestrating the entire event. And a reunion on Valentine's Day! Divine Grace in action!" exclaimed Dr. Liz.

"And you know what else?" Joyce shares delightedly. "Tara has a BIG giant purr, just like Snuggles had!"

There have been many wonderful "tests" of prayer over the many decades of human experience.
