Gulf Oil Leak has been weighing heavily on our
minds and hearts. We feel deeply, the
bleeding of the earth, the questioning of the
waters, the cries of the many beings in multiple
body costumes who are losing their lives, and
the despair of the persons losing their livelihoods.
Many of us are quietly in pain, frustrated over
our seeming inability to make heard our passionate
cry to help our planet and the beings within
it, angry at those in power who seem to be at
counter-purposes to the health of our earth.
To answer this bleeding pain, Spirit has created

PROCTOR
AND GAMBLE ANNOUNCE CAT FOOD RECALL
Low Levels
of Thiamine (B-1) Cited as Reason
The Proctor & Gamble Company (P&G) (NYSE:PG)
announced Tuesday it is recalling all varieties
of IAMS ProActive Health canned Cat and
Kitten Foods in 3 oz. and 5.5 oz. cans with
bottom date stamps of 9/2011 to 6/2012.
The recall, affecting only product in North
America, was voluntarily initiated when
diagnostic testing suggested insufficient
levels of thiamine (Vitamin B-1) which is
essential for cats' health, a P&G spokesperson
said. Consumers who have purchased
these foods are instructed to discard them.

to Friday 9:0 am to 7:00 pm EST.
Insufficient levels of thiamine in the food
make cats ingesting only these products
at greater risk of developing thiamine deficiency,
early signs of which may include loss of
appetite, salivation, vomiting, weakness,
and weight loss. Advanced cases may
include ventroflexion (downward curving)
of the neck, wobbly gait, falling, circling,
and seizures. If treated promptly,
thiamine deficiency is usually reversible.
Treatment is usually with injected or oral
vitamin B-1.
SADLY, NATURA
PET FOODS NOW ON "WATCH" LIST
Natura Pet Foods, maker of Evo, Innova,
and California Naturals, and Proctor and
Gamble, have announced P&G are buying Natura.
Natura Pet Foods had gained an excellent
reputation for high quality foods that can
be trusted. Sadly, we may now have
to take them off our recommended list and
put them on our Watch List. It is
the observation here, that when a large
company buys a smaller, formerly conscious,
successful company who had been doing a
great job, the first thing that happens
is, the recipes are changed. Then,
it is the further observation here, as the
need for greater supply quantities and cost
efficiencies rise and as price points tighten,
the quality of the ingredients and the wholesomeness
of the recipes decline.
PLEASE NOTE THAT BY LAW IN THE UNITED STATES,
the labeling can stay the same for up to
six months. This means the new ingredients
lists do not have to be on the labels until
then.
What can you do? Educate yourself.

feed a variety of the highest quality foods
