GirlyGirls - I have snow shoes, and snow pants, and I'm so happy to get to use them. Wanted to start downhill ski again, but the midline shift from the brain injury makes that a bit dangerous. :-(
Dr. Liz - Oh my heavens, Jane, I was just about to tease you for being in an area that WASN"T getting snow ... since so many of us on-line now are measuring our snow-fall in FEET!!!
GirlyGirls - The boys (fergus and graycat) escaped today while I was getting the shovel. Fergus thought better of it and ran back in but GC, a Maine Coon, gave it a try. . .I had to coax him to get him in. . .they worry me, kitties can be faster than me!
jane - It is so beautiful! It has been sleeting lightly most of the day. If you look at the Weather channel, there is this massive system hovering over the South.......I can't believe it - but WELL< the SAINTS DID WIN THE SUPERBOWL - I am sure this in lieu of hell freezing over!

jane - My brother was a die hard football fan - he died unexpectantly in 2001 with a brain aneurysm - his birthday was Sunday, Feb 7 - I KNEW that the Saints would win. I almost sent a request for the Basket of Blessings to ask that the Saints win - but did not feel like it woule be an appropriate request - you know, a football game and all.

Dr. Liz - I made yoghurt yesterday. First time I've made my own yoghurt in a LONG time! It is SOOOOO good!

Dr. Liz - I used raw organic non-homogenized non-pasteurized milk ... and only heated just a tad so that it is still totally enzyme rich and pure ... and oh my heavens, is it GOOD!!!
Wolf - My cat, Angel - ate what Liz described as an inch and a half long something - a bug maybe - that poisoned him and he died very quickly early on a Sat. morning about a month ago
Dr. Liz - It had crawled through some poison. He died very quickly.
maggie - I'm sorry. I had a female cat named Angel. She was hit by a car . That was a few years ago.
GirlyGirls - Oh, I'm sorry, Wolf. . .what a shock!
jane - Oh my gosh, Wolf - I am so very sorry, but at least he did not suffer - sometimes, poisonings create a lot of pain and suffering.
Wolf - he was 7 yrs. old and I say that his "Indian name" was "Purrs like a truck" as he was so loud - he was such a love!!! I really miss him!
Dr. Liz - Jane, he did suffer but thankfully it was a very short period of suffering. Measured in minutes.

jane - Maggie, I have a cat hit by a car, also - Molly - it always hurts so much and the pain is always so deep when we lose our babies. You never get used to the pain - no matter how many times we go through it.

Wolf - Yes GG - I had awakened to him on the bed earlier - petted him and fell back to sleep until I heard his scream and found him
maggie - yes, I really cried and my other cat , a male, Jet, was so in love with her. I don't know what he thought.
Wolf - He was just outside the doorway to my bedroom - and he died under my bed
jane - That is such a good question GG - I have often wondered that myself. Or how people can trap cats in a trap - why would the cats go into a trap?

GirlyGirls - So painful to hear this. So very, very sorry for such a brutal loss.
Dr. Liz - GG, it's because of the pyramid of instinctual responses. Whatever a particular animal has as its first priority, will always trump whatever is its lower priority. So if going after a moving bug ... the prey drive ... is higher than the awareness-of-toxin drive, then the former drive will win.
GirlyGirls - I get it Liz.
Wolf - I was always so careful to keep things away from the cats that could hurt them - but didn't know about that until it happened
GirlyGirls - Like falling in love with the wrong person. . .
jane - Oh my gosh, Maggie and Wolf - I have held my dead animals crying a cry do deep it almmost scared me - waiting for them to come back to life - and they do not.
Dr. Liz - When the food drive (hunger) is higher, than an animal will, for example, go into a trap.

GirlyGirls - My boys love being outdoors, they both adopted me from the outside world. And I fuss and worry when they are out, but they are almost impossible to keep in.
jane - So that is kind of like when animals take off and follow whatever is an adventure in front of them - then are lost?

Wolf - Mine - I still have a rescued female I renamed Isis - only indoor cats but still things happen
jane - Me, too, GG - all of my cats and dogs came from the outside - I have tried to keep them all in, but they scream to go out - my neighborhood is toxic - they drink water from the street when I put out purified water, etc...
Dr. Liz - Wolf, yes, things happen, even to indoor cats.
GirlyGirls - The boys want to go out at night, but I tell them No most of the time and that's the deal with having a warm home, and good food and beds to sleep on. . .the trade off is I do my thing to protect them, and they don't always like it.
GirlyGirls - WOlf, this happened IN your house! Yikes!
Bonnie - Do they ever use these means intentionally to leave here and move on??
Dr. Liz - Jane, Mr. Smudge does that here. I put out purified, filtered water ... he loves drinking the gutter water ... he particularly loves eating the snow ... he moves along like a wolf, with his lower jaw open, scooping up snow like a front-end-loader ... and then turns and looks at me, with snow on his nose ... it is just SOOOOO cute!
Wolf - yes - unfortunately - in the house - and I think - right outside of my bedroom door
GirlyGirls - Sometimes when GC is outside, he acts wild again, runs away from me, looks confused. . .but that started with the CO poisoning, and I think they all got their share of brain injury from that, like I did.
Wolf - I think that must be what happened Bonnie - things happen as they are supposed to - even very hard things to deal with
GirlyGirls - Smudge is a sweet dude.
Dr. Liz - Bonnie, the correct answer to your question is an answer phrased in levels of awareness. At higher levels of awareness, yes, they do. At physical or sensory levels of awareness, they sometimes do.
jane - Bless Mr. Smudge, Dr. Liz!! You are both so lucky to have each other - he is darling!
GirlyGirls - I felt sharp, thought he might have gotten some glass or something, but now I think it was what the pain was to him, very very sharp.

Di - Drinking water & eating snow must be in the collective conscious....I have some questions coming up for Dr. Liz on these topics with Riot.
GirlyGirls - My brother always says, "God willing and nobody gets in the way" Poison is somebody/thing getting in the way.
Wolf - Liz said that the poison punctured his stomach and he was a "goner" the minute he ate whatever it was
Dr. Liz - GG, Wolf's Angel experienced chemical burns of the stomach which created holes and almost instantaneous internal bleeding.
Dr. Liz - And right after that, very quick death.
maggie - I've been dealing with poison issues for the last few years. Finally moved once and for all but must get rid of old house.
Wolf - he was vomiting blood - and was gone very quickly
jane - Oh my gosh - you must have felt sheer terror.

GirlyGirls - Yes, I felt the puncture/cut/sharp/bleed. Poor baby, I'm glad it was quick. Poor baby. . .
maggie - acid chemicals cause corrosive burns
Dr. Liz - Maggie, old houses, as wonderful as they may be, are often hot-beds for mold, spores, left-over asbestos, left-over lead paint residue, and other toxins.

GirlyGirls - My house is being mold tested tomorrow.
Dr. Liz - Wolf, yes, I feel it was a bug, not a mouse. The reason I feel it was a bug, not a mouse, is because there wasn't any report from Angel of any warmth when he swallowed it. A mammal would have been warm. Plus he said it felt more hollow than full. A bug would feel more hollow.

maggie - this was from a industrial site next to my house that they dug up and released vapors
Dr. Liz - Whew, Maggie, that's a tough one.
GirlyGirls - My landlord took 5 years to fix the roof, had constant leaks. Finally put rent in escrow (they had the nerve, never repair anything here, to raise rent $100/mo, so I got ticked, they fixed the roof, and I demanded mold testing because of the long term leak. Fannie has had so many respiratory problems. We moved out of the master BR because that's where leak was, and she's doing much better with me in guest room and air purifier.
Wolf - ...sorry - so that I could get Angel out from underneath and then helped me clean up and put the bed back for me
jane - Maggie - you lost animals because of the industrial site next to your house?
maggie - EPA is suppose to be doing an investigation

jane - Maggie - do you deal with real estate?
maggie - No- my two cats are still with me, but they went throught it with me and my lungs aren't right and one cat has respiriatory issues. I worry about them.

jane - I have a cat that I feel was poisoned in the neighborhood - Rudy - I never found his body - that was devastating for me.

maggie - No I don't deal with real estate- I just run away from posions. MOst of my stuff is still in the house but it freaks me out to go back.
jane - My vet friend said that she "got" that it was anti-freeze. She has her psychic moments.
Dr. Liz - GG, that's actually a part of something I was doing to discuss this evening ... how we manage our priorities, our lives ... how we stay on course with what we know is important ... and not get distracted in what's beginning to seem to me, to be, "The Age of Distraction"! I felt for years we were in the "Age of Information" ... but now I don't think so any more ... I think we're in the "Age of Distraction" ... LOL! So ... everyone ... how do you DO it??? Keep your lives in balance? What works for you, what doesn't????
GirlyGirls - I'm starting to want to turn the boys into indoor cats. . .but their nature is so about Nature.
Dr. Liz - Me, for example, I know what I "want" to do ... but finding time to DO it every day, just doesn't seem to be happening regularly!!!
Dr. Liz - Anybody else running into this issue?
maggie - I've been trying to shift my priority to what I really want to do but I get stuck a lot.
jane - Well, Dr. Liz - that is such an EXCELLENT question! I can so much feel that time is SPEEDING up - I am almost giving up on trying to be organized about anything - and just taking care of the "putting out the fires" - at work and at home.
GirlyGirls - I'm living in a state of distraction from the brain injury.
Wolf - that sounds "right on" Liz. I do healing every day - at least sending the energy where it's needed. It helps me to stay focused on why I'm here
Di - Time management is what I struggle with Liz; I need 30 hour days!
GirlyGirls - So I'm in cognitive rehab. . . LOL! Maybe it's what everybody needs!
Di - But I do what I can.
Dr. Liz - GG, I don't think it's just the brain injury ... I think it's also the nature of the current world experience ...
jane - I am really being forced to prioritize things more now than ever - and learn to let go of some things. I do the best I can do!
Wolf - true Di!
Dr. Liz - Di, me, too ... I feel with 30 hours a day, I "could" do it ... but then, I might fill all THAT time, too!!!!!
Wolf - true Liz - time really is speeding up!
GirlyGirls - I've been forced to take a lot off of my plate, and to focus on the priorities in order to function well. . .one of the silver linings in it all. Still, I wish when I am lying in bed I knew whether my legs were crossed or straight. . .can't tell. So strange.
GirlyGirls - It's all of it, yes, Liz. . but the BI makes it moreso.
maggie - I have time but I get PTSD- frozen emotional states and waste a lot of time there.
Wolf - GG - you live in this area don't you?
GirlyGirls - Outside of Philadelphia
Dr. Liz - Wolf just volunteered a great idea ... she does healing every day ... it helps her to stay focused on why she's here ... me, I do Yoga and give loves to Mr. Smudge ... that helps me to at least start my day in a focused way ...
Wolf - I thought so - will send lots of healing energy!
Dr. Liz - But I feel there is so much more I 'ought' to be doing ...
jane - Sometimes feel like I am being run over by something - when I cannot get to everything - it is almost like time runs me over and I lose the race against time. I really dislike racing against the clock. It makes me totally crazy - especially if I am running at all late (which I usually do not).
Bonnie - Why?
GirlyGirls - My midline shift/visual issues make it so I literally don't see things that are right in front of me. I know it SHOULD be there, but light colors on light, dark on dark, my brain doesn't always process when it's there.

Dr. Liz - Like, totally conscious food choices ... meditating for at least 30 minutes a day ... as well as doing all the "house" stuff and my work ...

Wolf - Actually - I feel that I got a handle on eating last summer - I was diagnosed as diabetic - but had my blood sugar numbers back to normal by the end of August
jane - right about the cats - I used to rush home and had cats all over me - for attention and food, etc.....I would nearly kill myself trying to feed them and clean the cat boxes and let the dogs out, etc.....then I really started wondering if I really LOVED them - did I really LOVE THEM??? Or was I just taking care of their needs??? That was a huge wake-up call for me - and it was pretty recent.

GirlyGirls - My satiety (spelling?) center was affected. I didn't experience hunger or fullness for a long time, now intermittently. Thanksgiving was great, though! LOL! Didn't get uncomfortable! But I did start craving things like hoagies and potato chips, which I could go for YEARS without eatting before. I had eaten quite consciously for years, and preparing meals, , etc, kinda fell off.
jane - Dr. Liz, psychiatrist extraordinaire, it made me start thinking abot my parents - I know they loved me - but it seems like they were more concerned with taking CARE of me and my sister and brother than showing emotional love - does thi make any sense?
Wolf - I lost 3 dress sizes and am still down! I had never been able to maintain weight loss before now!
Di - I think I need I copy for my office as well!
Dr. Liz - Wolf, that is SO exciting!!!
GirlyGirls - Of course, these lousy foods don't help my brain health. So how, Liz, do we practice conscious living in a world that has us rushing and barely staying in a moment?

maggie - jane- that's common enough. It's hard to be a parent.
Dr. Liz - Jane, it definitely does. We often play out the energies of our youth, or more accurately, they play out through us, until we become aware of them ... and then we can be at choice.
Dr. Liz - GG, we get VERY clear on our priorities, and make sure that our values are aligned with our priorities, and live from our declarations.
GirlyGirls - No time for mindfulness! LOL!
jane - Good question, GG - we are surrounded (especially here in Louisiana) by unhealthy eating conditions and food! I have battled weight for most of my life.
Wolf - People have said for years that weight loss - or anything that you want to do - starts in your head - and I never "got that" til last summer - but once you "get it" - it's easy - I just eat what I want - even chocolate - just not the "whole bag" like I used to
GirlyGirls - So God provided me with an opportunity to do this, out of necessity!
Wolf - it really is GG! It's amazing! I went to Maui, Hawaii last October for a class - and did lots of walking that I would not have been able to do before that! It was great!
jane - I started to make myself aware that all of my animals are so beautiful and unique (which, of course, I knew) - but that I would spend quite time with all of them each night - and really appreciate each of them for who they are.
Dr. Liz - Wolf, to use that same model, feeling pressured about having "Lots to do" and "not enough time to do it" also starts in the head ... so perhaps part of our opportunity, is to figure out how much less of something we can do, and still feel like we're doing it, when it may be a priority item for us ... in your example, you ate SOME chocolate, but not the whole bag ...

For me, the past six weeks or so, has involved the suffering of my "first" shingles outbreak, for GG, the brain injury, for Wolf, the diabetes, for Maggie, the toxic environment ... not sure for the others here ... but for me, it's been a MAJOR lesson in learning how to STAY relaxed ... and to simply let things go ...

GirlyGirls - Just about this time last year was the big bang, but medical records show I was likely being slow poisoned for at least 3 years. . .very scary. The exhaust pipe dislodged completely from the furnace last February.

Dr. Liz - Jane, I'm doing much better, thank you. Looking back from where I am now, I can clearly see how VERY sick I was ... yes, GG, shingles is "nowhere hear a simple matter" ... I understand that, now. I didn't, before.

Dr. Liz - GG, right side mid-to-lower torso, front and back.
GirlyGirls - (I always say, God seems to be an 11th hour God. . .however, the one prayer always answered swiftly and with great efficiency is "Dear Lord, keep me humble!" GOt to a point I would wince and duck when I prayed that prayer. . .then I had to stop praying it for a while! LOL!
jane - I mentioned last time that I do not like suffering - Ha Ha Ha - who does? I really do not like all of the suffering in life - learning or not.

jane - YES, Maggie!!
GirlyGirls - Well, Wolf the problem with CO is even though one is very symptomatic, since the brain cells aren't all firing correctly, you really don't realize what is going on. I called my BF two weeks before the hospitalization, and said, "I feel like I'm dying and I don't know why."" It was confusing because I'd always feel better after getting out of the house for a few hours. I had the furnace company on the phone 15 times last winter, 7 service people came through and said it was okay, even when I said I was concerned about CO. ..
Dr. Liz - I'm at the point where the skin is mostly healed, but the burn feeling of the blistering remains ... so does some of the neuralgia. So peace to the skin, peace to the nerves, would be a great prayer for this body. :)
Wolf - that's for sure Maggie! As Liz has said - we can ask that our lessons be easier - without the suffering - we just forget to add that most of the time
GirlyGirls - I would dowse, it would say I was dying, but I'd ask, cancer, this that, and get no no no.
GirlyGirls - How long have you had it Liz?

jane - But GG - why haven't you moved? I know that moving is not easy, etc..
Wolf - GG did you get a CO detector for the house?
GirlyGirls - Yes, I will pray for NO long term neuralgia.
Dr. Liz - GG, I didn't know what it was at first. It started around the time of the snow storm before Christmas here. Broke out in earnest in early January. So by all standards, I'm healing very quickly. And this, I am very grateful for.

GirlyGirls - I had one. Either it was malfunctioning, or as the fire dept said, the plug ins are no good, since plugs are low. if you have radiant heat, the CO rises with the heat. Mine was plugged in on first floor. He said, "Honey, by the time the CO gets that low, you are already dead."
GirlyGirls - I have 5 CO detectors now, but they don't start measuring until 70 ppm is consistent for 90 minutes. . .I am vulnerable, since my blood brain barrier is compromised now, at 35 ppm.

Dr. Liz - GG, your information on that, made me very grateful that my CO detector is high and right outside the furnace room.
GirlyGirls - Liz, what did you think was going on? So often, folks don't realize it right away.

Dr. Liz - GG, I thought it was a heat rash from a mix of sweating and friction from my clothing from having shoveled snow for 4-1/2 hours.
GirlyGirls - Found out, :-), I nearly died, but I think some great spirit who loves me managed to get me up out of my stupor and down the stairs to shut off the furnace and call the company. However, trying to cover his a--, the service manager said, "Oh you must be sensitive to smells", I was loopy. He fixed the pipe, left me in a house filled with CO when I was having cardiac symptoms, and said, you may want to air it out in a couple of days. . .I'd like to wear his testicles for earrings one of these days.
