Dr. Liz - Joyce, I got that telephone call, it's pretty amazing. ... how "they" knew we'd both respond to an animal named "Marge", and they named the ONE cat (the "tickler" cat) "Marge" and then led us to the others, too ... who also were originally named Marge!

Dr. Liz - <grin> "Orange" is the color of certain monks’ robes, she said, so she wanted to be orange.
Joyce - So I looked at the kitties profiles and emailed them all back to my private email
Joyce - and the first one to show up was the one called Marge
Joyce - the others which I sent first did not show up
Joyce - I emailed Marge to Liz
Jill Sasha - we found Sasha in my parents back yard and now my mom saisd she thinks they are going to have kittens out there soon

Jill Sasha - how ironic would that be

Joyce - The kitties being named Marge and the strange behavior of the email was a signal that these were the kitties meant to be for Princess and Daisy

Dee& Bustopher - when I saw the name Bustopher on petfinder..i loved the name, so i went to see him...i took my husband back to go get him a few days later...(still questioning in my head if I picked the right one)...I had already started singing a song (made up lyrics to a real song)...and when we got in teh car to go get him, i turned the car on...and that song was on the radio
Joyce - I showed pcitures of the kittens to Daisy and she winked her approval

Ask your dogs, are they wagging their tails because they're happy to be in contact with you ... or if they are wagging their tails because they feel the new job is the right job for you. Dr. Liz - Joanne, asking for validation is simply necessary sometimes. My sense is, you're correctly hearing their answers.

Joyce - you can practice this by thinking of something in your life experience that made you very happy
Joyce - and then sense how it feels in the body
Joyce - then something that made you anxious and how does that feel

GirlyGirls - When the transcripts come thru, I start copying and pasting into a word doc. I edit out unrelated banter from the teachings, and some of the rest, only keeping in comments I feel particularly support the teaching and elaborate on it. . things that folks said that helped me understand what was going on. . .

Dee& Bustopher - i think that the way the chats unfold, the ideas introduced by everyone..offer a broad view point htat more people can "get into" since it isnt a one sided teaching
Joyce - I put Rescue Remedy in the water bowls of the kitties ... it helped the older ones get used to the younger and newer kitties

Dr. Liz - Provincial and state laws for health and safety do not allow our animals to be in emergency housing with humans. The only animals that are allowed are service animals. It is also almost impossible to quickly find shelter for our animals in the midst of a disaster.
Dee& Bustopher - when we adopted him, we realized that he needed us to be stable and calm to help him to "listen' to us...and your conversation with him revealed that he had control issues..that we needed to take charge for him to be more comfortable

Dr. Liz - So the best thing to do is to decide on a safe space for them ahead of time. This would begin by calling hotels away from your immediate area, and finding out which ones allow pets.
Dr. Liz - Also ask if their normal pet policies can be waived in an emergency situation.
Dr. Liz - Then make a list of friends, relatives, whoever, in a geographical range around you, who would take your animals in, in an emergency.
Joanne - How far is away from your immediate area?
Dr. Liz - You can also contact your vets and ask them what they would recommend.
Dr. Liz - Joanne, I figure up to 2 hours. Most disasters are contained within a 2 hour driving radius.
Dee& Bustopher - I found that the energy i use to talk with him, i've started intergrating into my whole day...and i can really feel how my energy center when I speak it no longer high up in my throat...now it is centered in my stomach..it feeld so much better
Dr. Liz - Then assemble an emergency kit.
Dr. Liz - The kit needs to contain current photographs of all your pets, multiple copies even, in case you need to give the photographs to someone who may be helping you find them if they become separated from you or lost from whoever might be caring for them for you.
Dr. Liz - Also, medical supplies and/or information on the scripts that may have been issued, along with the telephone number and name of the issuing vet(s).

Marge - yes, real good ideas!
Joanne - Can you make arrangements with a motel prior to an emergency to take you and your pets?
Dr. Liz - Also, of course, food, bowls, for cats, litter pan and litter, a way to open the cans (I've used screwdrivers and a hammer when a manual can opener died), and water that is safe to drink.
Dr. Liz - If there are any known medical conditions, the dosing schedule and necessary interventions should also be written out somewhere and stored safely in your emergency kit.
Dr. Liz - You can put all of this in a duffle bag so it's easy to reach for. Replenish it every quarter or so, so that the food in there is as fresh as possible.
Dr. Liz - Make sure all animals are collared and tagged, or that they have collars and tags you can put on them quickly if the need to evacuate arises.
GirlyGirls - Also, those little tags the vet gives you that verify shots . . .to satisfy the fed types
Dr. Liz - Usually we have warning when an emergency is immanent, but not always. Find a neighbor who can help if necessary if for some reason you're not home. One of the things you want your neighbor to do, is, if any of your companion animals are outside, to bring them inside so you don't have to go looking for them.

Dr. Liz - Also, put Rescue Remedy, Star of Bethlehem, and Walnut in one of the duffle bags. Good to have for humans and animals alike! Also put in the homeopathics arnica, and hypericum.

Dr. Liz - If you're going to a temporary shelter, put the telephone number of the shelter on masking tape or adhesive tape and tape the telephone number to the back of your animals' tags or on their collars. Or mark the number in fabric marker on their collars (assuming they're not metal).

Joanne - He's visited the woman and her home.
Dr. Liz - Joanne, can you have someone else come in? People do it ... leave animals in crates for 8 hours ... but I generally feel that's too long.
Joanne - No. I have to leave Ruger for 8 hrs.
Dr. Liz - The only exception is if the animal is given a VERY good exercise session, at least 45 minutes of brisk walking, in the morning before being created.
Joanne - Would I be better leaving them in a boarding situation?
Dr. Liz - Joanne, it's possible, and animals definitely survive it. I just generally feel it's a bit too long. Are you going to arrange for proper exercise after Bear is let out of the crate?
Joanne - Yes, she has a fenced in yard.
Dr. Liz - Joanne, if it’s a qualified boarder, if the animals receive socialization and exercise, yes, it's likely to be better for them than being crated in a “stranger’s” home.
Joanne - What does Bear say. Stay there or where he stayed last time?
Dr. Liz - Joanne, it may be all right, as long as there is socialization and exercise afterwards. But being let out in a yard alone, is not really exercise.
